Obituary of Robert Miller

It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert A. Miller, 90, of New Glasgow, announce his sudden passing on June 4, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. His beloved wife Jessie was by his side. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Isabel (Stewart) Miller. Robert served overseas during the Second World War as Corporal with the Canadian Army. When he returned from France, he operated a dairy farm in Island East River, until his retirement in 1978. He attended Trinity United Church, New Glasgow and St. Columba United Church, Hopewell. Robert was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #75, Eureka; Union Lodge No. 30 I.O.O.F., Springville; and the 55 Plus Club, New Glasgow. Robert is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, the former Jessie A. Russell; son Robert (James), Lunenburg; sister Verlie W. Wilson, Brownfield, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Charles and William; and sister Doris (Miller) MacRae. Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. A Celebration of Life will be held in St. Columba United Church, Hopewell with Rev. Heather Landry officiating Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. Committal following the funeral service in Springville Cemetery.
