Obituary of Bernice MacKenzie

Bernice MacKenzie, 92, Prince William Street, formerly of Campbell’s Road, Westville, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Meadowville, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late John Hughes and Bessie (MacDonald) Hughes MacKenzie. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville. She is survived by three sons, Lloyd, Canning, NS; Roland (Mary) and Leslie, both of Westville; daughters, Shirley Hughes, Toronto; Esther Creed, Fox Brook; Jessie and Marian, Westville; half-sister, Muriel Jackson; half-brother Simeon MacKenzie(Shirley); 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bert; daughters Karen Byrne, and Pat Fraser; grandson, Ross MacKenzie; three brothers, Gordon, Allister, and Roland Hughes; half-brother Lauchlin MacKenzie; and step-father George MacKenzie. Her funeral service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday, September 11 from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville with the Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery.
