Obituary of Sandy MacKay

Melvin Alexander "Sandy" MacKay, 79, Mt. William, Pictou County, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family at his side. Born April 23, 1933 in Mayfield, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late John R.and Annabelle (Malcolm) MacKay. Sandy had worked at Maritime Tel. and Tel. for 35 years in various areas. Sandy will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Ferguson); son Ivon (Adele), Abercrombie; grandsons, Brett, Bedford and Jace, Abercrombie.. He is also survived by sister Marlene MacLean(Allan), Port Hawkesbury; brothers George (Jean), Bedford; Cecil (Sally), Antigonish; Dannie (Marian), Alberta and locally by brothers-in-law, Alonzo Ferguson (Joan), Mt. William; Emerson Hale, Mt. William; sister-in-law Dorothy Ferguson, North River and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Agnes and Betty and brothers, Felix, Garnet, John R. and Eddie and locally by sister-in-law, Peggy Hale and brothers-in-law, Nugent Ferguson and Ivan Ferguson Cremation has taken place. His memorial service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday, September 25 f rom Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Interment was in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
