Obituary of Clarence Nelson

Clarence Robert Nelson, 83, Millbrook, Pictou County, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Millbrook, on December 12, 1929, Clarence was a son of the late James and Dorothy (MacBain) Nelson. A life long resident of Millbrook, Clarence was a carpenter by trade. In his later years, he did farming, and was well known throughout Pictou County for his Christmas trees. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch, where he served as Clerk of Session for several years. Clarence also served on the Millbrook Cemetery Board for many years. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Alice (MacLeod); sons, Jim, Sunridge, Robert (Juanita), Lovat; daughter, Norma Cameron (Doug), Watervale; grandchildren, Jacob Nelson; Branden and Ryan Nelson; Dustin, Kyle and Emma Cameron; sister Marjorie MacDonald, Lyons Brook; brothers-in-law, Neil MacLeod, New Glasgow; Al Turner, Texas and Dr. Doug Black, Digby ; sister-in-law, Jean MacLeod, New Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Turner. Visitations were held on Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Thursday Jan. 2 from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch with Rev. Gary Tonks officiating. Burial will be in Millbrook Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Millbrook Cemetery, or a charity of ones’ choice.
