Obituary of William Betts

William "Hugh" Betts, 61, Cameron Avenue, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow on June 14, 1947, he was a son of the late Charles Robert and Mary (Tate) Betts. He was a moulder by trade, working at Maritime Steel for the past 26 years. Hugh enjoyed fishing, however, had his greatest enjoyment being with his family and the quiet hours spent with his dog Coco. Hugh will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years Kathleen "Kit" (Ryan); daughters, Terry MacArthur (Gary), Pictou; Sarah Jones (Gordon), New Glasgow; Susan Pellerin (Tom Smith), New Glasgow; Christine Pike (Art), New Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Curtis, Kelsey, Lance, Rebecca, Kyle, Jaime Kay, and Lauren. He is also survived by sister Diana Shakeness (Earl), Westville Road; brother Robert "Bob" (Laureen), Westville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Thomas John officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery.
