Obituary of George Weatherbie
George Alexander Weatherbie. 83 of Cowan Street, Westville passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family at his side.
Born in Westville, he was a son of the late Frank and Ethel ( Chapman) Weatherbie.
George was a meat cutter by trade for many years with Carrigan’s Grocery and Sobeys. He then worked for 21 years at Michelin Tire Ltd. Until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid hunter and sport fisherman and enjoyed camping especially vacationing in P.E.I.
George will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy (Mahoney) daughters, Lisa, Westville, Janis MacDonald (Bob), Timberlea, N.S., Theresa MacGregor (Kenneth), Thorburn; sons, Mark (Lorraine), Thorburn, and Leo (Lucie), Calgary, Alberta; grand children, Ashley MacGregor, Morgan Weatherbie, Brianna MacDonald, Rick Weatherbie , Adam MacGregor, Andrea Weatherbie and Kiara MacDonald; great grand children, Cole and Callie MacGregor. He is also survived by his sisters Muriel Langille, Westville; Gloria MacNeil, Dartmouth; Lois Gerrior (Clarence), Trenton.
He was predeceased by his son, George, sisters, Bernetta Porter, Frances Carrigan, Mildred Weatherbie, Ethel Mae Whitty, Viola Ransome, Angelina Murphy, Lila MacLean and Veronica in infancy and brothers, Frank "Bubs", Anthony and John and Garfield Weatherbie.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday from The Church of The Holy Name, Westville with Father Gerald Campbell officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory maybe made to a charity of one’s choice.
