Obituary of Harvey Crowther
Harvey Earl Crowther, 57 Westville, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital;, New Glasgow.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Daniel and Josephine (Wilcox) Crowther.
Harvey was an electrician by trade and did carpentry as well. He had a great passion for children and sports, especially baseball and played a great roll in the building of the Pioneer Ball Field. He continued his love of sports in coaching both Westville Minor Hockey and Westville Minor Ball and was a President of both Leagues and most recently his coaching his grand daughter’s softball.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Jason; Jamie ( Jody) and Jeff; grand children, Christie, Kourtney, Bradley, Morgan, Briea, and Brandon and great grand daughter, Carmen and his partner, Sylvia Lewis. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth Morrison (Claude), N.B.; Lynn Bordenuik (Dave), Ont.; Laura Small (Merrill), N.B.; Joyce Fraser (Jeff Murphy), Westville; brothers, Melvin ,Ont., Danny (Theresa), Truro; Leonard (Bernadette), Pictou; Gordon (Tina), Ont.; Ricky (Martina), Westville and Ronnie (Sharon), New Glasgow.
He was predeceased by a brother Wilson, brothers-in-law, Robert Fraser, Elliot Clark, sister-in-law Rhonda Crowther, niece Sarah Fraser and nephew Bradley Crowther.
Visitations were held on Monday, March 18, at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday, March 19, from St. Bees’ Anglican Church, Westville with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Donations in Harvey’s memory may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society, The Palliative Care Society or Westville Minor ball.
