Obituary of Jessie Sutherland

Jessie Keith Sutherland formerly of Pleasant Valley passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Scotland, she was a daughter of the late William and Jane (Taylor) Horne. She moved with her family as a young girl to Nova Scotia to reside in Elgin. In 1946, she and her husband moved to Toronto and upon retirement returned to Pictou County to reside in Pleasant Valley. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Sutherland, New Glasgow; Jeannie Gruberman (Stan), Montreal; grand children, Gilles Zolty (Lara Kowalsky), Sask; Tania Zolty (Louis-Laurent Dupont), France; Fiona Meyer-Cook, Ottawa; great grand children, Zoé, Max, Anisha and Isabela; sister, Winifred Gare, Woodstock, Ont and a brother, Alexander "Sandy" (Muriel) Horne, Lindsay, Ont. She was predeceased by her husband, James Alexander Sutherland; sisters, Betty Reid, Sidney Horne, Georgina Ionson, Peggy MacLean, Isobel MacDonald and brothers, Bill and Jim Horne. A special thanks to Uncle Sandy and Aunt Muriel for their daily phone calls and beautiful floral arrangements; the MacLean Family for their loving support; Rev. Doug Pilsworth for his visits, and to Dr. J.G. Forbes, Sister Mary McMahon and Staff of Glen Haven Manor for their excellent care during our mother’s stay. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 - 2 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville from where her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Friday with the Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Valley.
