Obituary of Gerry Ward
Gerald "Gerry" MacKay Ward, 77, West River Station passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family at his side.
Born in Eureka, he was a son of the late Cecil and Olive (Thompson) Ward.
Gerry worked at Hawker Siddeley for several years, later with Warren Paving Ltd. and eventually with the Department of Highway until his retirement. He also had a hobby farm, enjoying working with animals.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Sharon (MacDonald); children, Gerald Paul (Candace Cochrane), Edmonton; Cecil (Joe MacKinnon), Sydney; Glen (Andrea), Maine; Geraldine, Winnipeg; Cindy Degaust (Kirk), West River Station; and Bryan (Alicia), Westville; grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah; Cory, Melanie, Rebecca and Makayla; Riley, Raven and Madison; Shaylene and Jacob; Brittany, Bailey and Aidan; Kyle, Felicity and Katie. He is also survived by his sister Doris, Salt Springs, brothers, Jack (Greta), Westville, Cecil "Mickey" (Betty), Truro, and Jim, Salt Springs.
He was predeceased by sister Fannie Brown (Howard); brother, Lester "Bill" (Lois); and sister-in-law Dorothy "Dolly"
Gerry rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with visiting on TuesdayMay 21. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Wednesday May 22 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment took place in in Riverton Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of one’s choice.
