Obituary of Valerie MacGillivary

Valerie Anne (Larade) MacGillivary, age 60, South Main Street, Westville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at her residence. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Forrestall) Larade. Valerie’s secret wish was “to be the best wife, mother, and grandmother that she could be and to make all her family proud” , and she was, and did. She will be sadly missed by her husband Hubert; daughters, Tara Canning; Tanya Canning (Shaun Henderson); Vanessa MacNeill (Andrew), all of Westville; sons, John Allan Canning (Jolene Sangster), Enfield; Chad Canning, Westville; special pet Keisha; seven grandchildren, Alyssa Canning, Tessa and Sara Sherman, Brooke, Zoe, Kale, and Zackary MacNeill. She is also survived by her brother Bill Larade, Toronto; sisters, Marion Stairs, Toronto; Sharon Dooley (Jim), Toronto; Diane MacDonald (Lester), Dartmouth; Sheila Davidson (Jerry), New Glasgow; Pat MacDonald (Davey), Trenton; Barb Hunter (Dean), Westville; and mother-in-law Anne MacGillivary. Valerie was predeceased by sister-in-law Peggy Larade. Her funeral service was held 11 a.m. Thursday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery.
