Obituary of David Cushing
David Beattie Cushing, age 72, of Fox Brook, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his wife and family at his side.
Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Israel and Frances (Wilkins)Cushing.
David lived in Boston for most of his working life where he was employed as an engineer with Polaroid.
He returned to Nova Scotia in 2008 and resided in Fox Brook. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, hockey, baseball and golf.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Marlene Sinnis; daughter, Michelle Marci (John), New Jersey; son, David Michael Cushing (Meg), Boston; grandchildren, Lauren and Elizabeth Marci; step-children, David Sinnis (Deborah), Fox Brook, Mark Sinnis (Carol), Stewiacke; Deborah Campbell (Chris), Fox Brook. He is also survived by his sister Frances “Lou” MacDonald (Ian), Fox Brook; brother, Robert Cushing (Dianne), Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Mary (Scannell).
Cremation has taken place. The family received visitors on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service was held 11 o’clock Monday September 2 from First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell with Bonnie Langille officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell; the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
