Obituary of Barbara Hodgkins

Barbara Ann Hodgkins, age 80, Gregory’s Lane, Westville passed away on Saturday August 31, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville April 13, 1933, she was a daughter of the late George and Isabel (Sinclair) Henderson. Barbara was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and the Murray Temple Pythian Sisters Lodge. She was an avid card player and entertained many family and friends at her home. Barbara will be dearly missed by daughter, Barbara “Louise” Egan, Westville; son Eddy (Diane) Hodgkins, Oshawa; grandchildren, Kimberly, Darryl and Billy Ray Hodgkins; Tyler and Dylan, Egan; and Stephen MacKinnon,. She is also survived by brother Edison Henderson, Westville; sisters, Kay Collins, Moncton and Edna Harquail (Maurice), Kentville; sister-in-law Elizabeth Nicholson, Barrie, Ont. and close friend, Lew MacNaughton, Westville. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond “Sonny”; sons Gregg and Glenn; sisters, Agnes Saunders, Ruby MacKenzie, and Vonnie Adamson and infant sister, Flossie Henderson. Special thanks to the V.O.N.; Dr. Brad MacDougall; Dr. Gerry Farrell and the Palliative Care Nurses. Visitations were held at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service was held 11 am Wednesday Sept. 5 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment tool place in Christ Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one’s choice.
