Obituary of Pam Sponagle
The family of Pam Sponagle announce with great sorrow her sudden and unexpected passing following a heart attack on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the age of 54.
Pam was a beautiful person inside and out. Destined to be a mother, her children and family were everything to her. She was a loving sister, daughter, and friend; a great listener, and a respected member of her community. After graduating from the beautician’s program at the former vocational school in Stellarton, Pam began her career as a hairdresser in Halifax. She later returned to the local area to work in various salons in Pictou County, which she did for 35 years. Most of her working and personal life was spent in Westville. While her children were young, Pam had a salon in her home on North Main Street and, in recent years, was the sole proprietor of Pam’s Style Studio on Main Street.
Survived by her beloved children, Holly Sponagle (fiancé Zack Tree) and Matthew Sponagle (girlfriend Amy Hartling), Pam’s strength, warmth, and generous spirit, her laughter and her smile will live on in them and in their future generations.
Also left to greatly mourn her passing is her aged mother Doreen Joyce (nee Megeney), Pam’s twelve brothers and sisters: Richard Joyce (Colleen), Louise Klein (Michael), Patricia Parker (Martin), Amelia Joyce (Wayne Lynch), Brian Joyce (Genevieve), Maida "Rusty" Babb (Donald), John Joyce (Edyth), Denise Joyce (Leo Vassart), Mickey Joyce (Brenda), Patrick Joyce (Wendy), Nicole Joyce (Steve Walsh), and Trina Joyce (Richard Cayen), and her many nieces and nephews.
Pam was predeceased by her father John "Bunny" Joyce in 1978.
Visitations were held on Thursday, September 26, frat Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service was held on 1 o'clock Friday, September 27, at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Westville with the Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating and interment took place in Mt. William Cemetery.
