Obituary of James Porter

James Edison Porter, age 82, of College Street, Westville, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his family by his side.. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James and Jessie (MacKenzie) Porter. Jim was a quiet, reserved gentlemen, who enjoyed spending time with his family at the D&B Campground. He worked on the delivery truck for Halliday Craftsman for over 25 years and was a member of St. Paul United Church, Westville. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Wood); daughters, Joanne Aikens (David), Trenton; Bonnie Allen, New Glasgow; and Cheryl Wallace (Robert), Pictou; 4 grandchildren, Christopher and Lindsay Allen and Coady and Gage Wallace; sisters, Jessie Dorie (Charles), Pictou and Margie Nelson, Moncton. Special thanks to Dr. Jota, Dr. Jala; Dr. Shaarbaf, Dr. Farrell, Debbie and Rhonda, nurses on fourth floor, V.O.N. continuing care, and the Palliative Care Society. Cremation has taken place.. His memorial service was be held 4 o’clock Monday, September 30, from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Family flowers only.
