Obituary of Craig Chenell

Craig Adam Chenell, 25, Sylvester passed away on June 24, 2009 as a result of a tragic motor vehicle accident. He was the youngest son of Glenn & Elizabeth (MacKay) of Sylvester. Craig graduated from West Pictou District High School in 2002 and went on to further his education at St. Mary’s University. Craig had a genuine love and intimate connection to nature and the great outdoors where he ultimately found his passion in life in the "air." He recently received his Commercial Pilot’s License at the Greenwood Flight Centre and he was literally hours away from obtaining his Multi-Engine IFR Certification after which he had plans to head North to fly bush planes. Craig was an avid outdoor adventurer who not only appreciated but found "peace" surrounded by the spectacular beauty of nature itself. He particularly enjoyed fishing with Mark and his only nephew Connor who idolized him. Besides his parents Craig is survived by his brothers Michael, Scotsburn and Mark (Lisa) and nephew Connor, Sylvester. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, James V and Jean MacKay, Scotsburn and his paternal grandmother Audrey Chenell, Sylvester. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Walter Chenell. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins. Craig and his cousins were extremely close and they all have many happy memories of him growing up together. Visitation will at Eagles Funeral Home, Westvile on Saturday, June 27 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral will be held on Sunday, 2 pm at Scotsburn United Church with Mary MacDermid officiating. Committal will be at a later date. Family flowers only.
