Obituary of Ivy Matheson
Ivy Marie Louise Matheson, age 91, of Union Centre, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her family at her side.
Born in Millbrook, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late Carl and Ena (Halliday) MacKenzie.
“Grammie/Mum” enjoyed camping, gardening, and especially camp fires. She and her husband Donald were among the founding members of the Pictou Co. Light Horse Club and enjoyed traveling throughout Nova Scotia to various exhibitions and campgrounds.
She is survived by son William “Bill” (Snookie Hirtle), Munroe Ave. Ext.; daughters, Helyn Davis (Jim), Pleasant Valley; Donna MacLean (Peter), Durham; grandchildren, Lynn Matheson (Jeff Harop), Brad Matheson, Steven Sarty (Sonya), Ronald Sarty (Michelle), Rachel Whitman (Gerry), Ivy Hughes (Troy), Nikki MacInnis (Jeremy), and Kevin MacLean; 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Shirley Spencer and children, Ottawa; and special sister, Marie Cameron (Donald), Riverton.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald and infant brother James.

There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Gairloch with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. or St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
