Obituary of Margaret Thompson
Mrs. Margaret Lydia Thompson 98, Campbell’s Road, Westville passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
Born in Westville on August 12, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Margaret (Henderson) Daley.
Mrs. Thompson was a devoted member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, where she was Superintendent and taught Sunday School for twenty five years and was a member of the Barbara MacKenzie Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she taught night school, was an ardent curler and was always involved in organizing her family “get togethers”. She was a staunch Conservative and enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world which she continued until recent years.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Triandafillou (Danny), Ottawa; son, Chester (Norma), New Glasgow; and grand daughters, Joanne Bell (Bruce), China and Margaret Triandafillou, Ottawa and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Chester; sisters, Mary MacDonald, Alma Spargo, and Dorothy Grant and brothers, Ernest, Robert, Jerry, Ira and Douglas Daley.
The family would like to thank Minnie Shreenan, John MacKarney, Dr. Gregor MacLean, and her caregivers, Violet Hughes, Patsy MacKay, Judy Oldford, Shirley Oldford, Joy Gower, Brenda Baillie, Jane Hamilton, who took such good care of her and made her last years so comfortable.
Mrs. Thompson rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting onMonday, March 24. Her funeral service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday, March 25, from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with the Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Thompson’s memory may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
