Obituary of Medford Stevens
Medford Lewis Stevens, 76 of Stellarton formerly of Westville passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Born in New Glasgow on May 14, 1937, he was a son of the late Lewis and Jessie (nee Marshall) Stevens of Lovat.
Medford was an Instrumentation Technician with Canso Chemicals until its closure and later with Sheehan Electric until his retirement at age 73. He greatly enjoyed being a Leader with the Boy Scouts. He liked to hunt and fish and was a life member of the Pictou County Trap and Skeet Club.
Medford’s family was always very dear to him and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Ann (Chisholm); daughter Jessica (Walter MacDonald), New Glasgow; sons, Lewis (Christa), Calgary; Christopher (Betty Lou), Truro; Calvin (Linda Hale), Westville; Bill (Sharon), Halifax; beloved grand daughter Tysha Stevens, foster daughter, Mary Chenell (Jim), Sylvester; sisters, Rhoda MacKenzie (Farrell), New Glasgow; Audrey Wright (Calvin),Westville; brothers, Bill, Westville; Edward (Lenora), Salem; Myles (Jean), White Hill; sister-in-law, Angelina Stevens, Westville; brother-in-law, James “Bud” Cameron, Salt Springs and close family friend Dennis Campbell, Stellarton.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ina Cameron and brother, Lawson “Lollie”,and sister in law, Willena Stevens.
Visitations were held from at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. . His funeral service was held at 11 am. Thursday April 24 from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Stellarton with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery.
