Obituary of Douglas Conway

Douglas Rayburn Conway, 70 of Union Centre, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Margaret May (Gordon) Conway. Raised in Plymouth, he spent most of his life in Pictou Co., working construction, carpet laying, retiring from Michelin Tire Canada (Granton) after 30 years, he was a member of the Retires Club. He loved the outdoors; mowing the grass or working on the woodpile, tending the vegetable garden or relaxing under the big oak tree with Lena. Surviving are his wife and best friend Lena (Rorison); son, Darrell, Hamilton; daughters, Willow, Alberta; Charity Conway (Sean), Hamilton; brothers, Hubert, Churchville; Harry Wayne (Anne), Plymouth; step-daughter Karen McEachern (Lenny), Toronto; step-sons Kevin Lamey (Dorothy), Priestville; Gary McEachern (Annette), Mississauga, Ont.; Tony Ciano, Toronto; five grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; one great-step grandson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Paul Douglas; sisters, Doreen Conway, and Caroline and brother Jackie in infancy; and sister-in-law Jean Conway. Cremation has taken place. Keeping within Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery.
