Obituary of Donald Saunders

J. Donald Saunders (Sr), age 97, of Union Centre passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home. Born in Westville on May 13, 1917, he was a son of the late Frederick and Agnes (MacMillan) Saunders. As a young man Donald worked at the Drummond Coal Mine, Eastern Woodworkers and Hawker Siddeley Ltd. He had a farm at his home in Union Centre, which he continued to worked at until recently with his son. He was a member of the Middle River Presbyterian Church, Rocklin. He will be sadly missed by his son, Donnie (Edie), Union Centre; grandchildren, Mary (Charles Champagne), Union Centre; Anna, Toronto; Jane Jewell (Kyle), Corwall, P.EI., and Donna Syme (Paul), Salmon Arm, B.C.; great grandchildren, Ava and Gabe Champagne; sisters, Agnes Sample, Westville; Freda Millen, New Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Florence (MacDonald); sister Winifred Clarke; brother William “Bill”. Donald rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville on Saturday His funeral service was held 1 o'clock Sunday June 8 from Middle River Presbyterian Church, Rocklin with Bonnie Langille and Rev. Gary Tonks officiating. Burial was in the Gray Road Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Middle River Presbyterian Church or the Gray Road Cemetery.
