Obituary of Florence Oliver
Florence Eleanor (Murray) Oliver, 75, Drummond Road, Westville passed away on Sunday June 8, 2014, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Besides her husband Percy, she is survived by daughter Jennifer (Mike) Haas, Fraser's Mountain and son Douglas (Susan) , Westville , grandchildren Corey, Cody, Vicki and Allie . Florence also leaves behind sisters Madeline MacQuarrie (late JohnAlex), Annie (Bobby)Sample and Wilma (late James) Cameron.
Florence was born in and grew up in Gairloch, never losing touch with her family roots.
She was predeceased by parents William & Jenny (Gordon) Murray and a brother in infancy .
Florence's grandchildren were her pride and joy which is evident by the many pictures of them in her home. She loved the outdoors , being an avid gardener and could often be found tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. You would also find her volunteering with several groups and organizations with her baking and helping hand in any capacity she could. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, a United Commercial Traveller (UCT) member, and an enthusiastic participant in the Women's Institute Bowling League where she made many lasting friendships.
Florence rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville Monday . Her funeral service was held 2 o'clock Tuesday June 10, from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Burial took place in Gairloch Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory maybe made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the Palliative Care Society or Pictou County V.O.N.
