Obituary of Shane Porter

Shane Stephen Porter, CPL, CD, age 41, of Westville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Westville, he was a son of the late Frank and Beverley (Muir) Porter. Shane attended NSCC and was a rigger at Trenton Works. He served 20 years in the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantry soldier achieving the rank of Corporal and receiving the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. He participated in Operation Persistence (Swiss Air), performed 4 years at the International Tattoo in the soldiers race, and participated in White Juan across the province. He enjoyed, fishing, hunting, hockey, baseball, as well as many other sports. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Cailey Porter, Westville and Natalie Lees, Saskatchewan; wife Virginia “Ginnie” ; sisters, Debra Baker (David Graham), New Glasgow; Stephanie Ryan, Westville; Cathy Taylor (Bill), Coburg, Ont.; brother Trevor (Cindy), Port Rowan, Ont.; nieces and nephews, Aaron and Kristin Baker; Jessica Dort and Ryan Porter; Colin and Brandon Ryan; Meagan and Chandler Porter; special uncles, Garfield Johnson(Nancy) and David Porter. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Frank. Shane rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville on . Thursday. His funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday August 1 from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Interment was in the Holy Name Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Veterans Affairs, or a charity of one’s choice.
