Obituary of Edison Henderson
G. Edison Henderson, age 91, of Prince Albert Street, Westville, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, he was a son of the late George and Isabel (Sinclair) Henderson.
Edison was an overseas veteran of W.W.II serving with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. Over the years, Edison worked at the C.N.R., Lindsay Moores, and Imperial Oil.
Edison is survived by daughters, Sheila Shier, Ont. and Pat Wright (Edward); sons, George (Marion), Doug (Dale), and Bill (Anne), all of Westville; 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Kay Collins, Moncton, and Edna Harquail (Maurice), Kentville; and brother-in-law, Justin “Jud”: Adamson, Stellarton.
He was predeceased by his wife Stasia (Gouthro); infant son Fraser; great-grandson Mark; sisters, Agnes Saunders, Ruby MacKenzie, Vonnie Adamson and Barbara Hodgkins; and infant sister, Flossie Henderson.
Edison is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35, Westville will conduct a service on Saturday at 6:30 at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Sunday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
