Obituary of Loretta Flemming

Loretta Hazel Flemming, age 77, Church Street, Westville, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Minto, NB, she was a daughter of the late Gerhart Phillip Schaefer and Hazel Loretta (Foster) DeLorey. With her first husband being in the military, she lived in various areas of Canada and around the world, and after leaving the service moved to New Glasgow. She returned to NB where she was employed with Irving Shipyards and eventually transferred to the shipyards in Halifax. Upon retirement she returned to Pictou Co. to live in Alma, and later Westville. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion with Br. #35, Westville, where she held the office of secretary and later transferred to Br.#34, New Glasgow. She is survived by her children, David (Sue), Nebraska; Rhonda Works, Westville; James (Patricia), Stellarton; Lorena McKinney (Troy), Mount Uniacke; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Bobby, Charles and Donnie; sisters Gloria and Linda; and close personal friend Charles MacIsaac. She was predeceased by her partner of over 43 years John “Jack” Keenan; sister Louise; and brother Jerry. Loretta rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Thursday f. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #34 conducted a service Thursday from the Funeral Home. Her funeral service was held 2 o’clock Friday from Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial took place in the Auburn Cemetery. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
