Obituary of Doc White

Gordon Peter “Doc” White, 88 of Westville, passed away on Sunday December 7, 2014 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born on April 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Alfreda and Amanda (Cassie) White. Doc is survived by his sisters, Dorothy MacDonald, Hamilton, Ont; Yvonne “Vonnie” MacDougall, Westville; and brother, Patrick “Paddy”, Truro. He was predeceased by 8 brothers and four sisters. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for a number of years and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35 Westville. Doc also was an adult altar server at the Holy Name Church for many years. He was a member of A.A. for 37 years and maintained sobriety for all of those years. We were all so very proud of you Doc and know you were proud of yourself which you had every right to be. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Glen Haven Manor which took such good care of Doc during his stay there. A special thanks to Dr. John Forbes who treated Doc for many years with such compassion. A special thanks also to the A.A. Organization and their members; especially those in Westville; Doc’s sponsors and all who helped him and encouraged him to stay on the “right path”. God Bless you all. Doc rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 pm only His funeral service was held 11 a.m. WednesdayDecemner 10 from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery.
