Obituary of Daisy MacDonald
Margaret “Daisy” MacDonald, 93, of Alma, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014, in Glen Haven Manor, with her family at her side.
Born in Alma on August 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Tyson and Margaret (Dickson) Simmonds.
A life long resident of Alma, Daisy was very active in her community. She and her husband, along with others,were were instrumental in the inception of the Alma Fire Dept. She was one of the original founding members of the Alma Fire Dept. Aux. where she was honoured as a lifetime member and received recognition as “Maritimer of the Week” by C.T.V. She was very proud of having her street named after her “Daisy Lane”. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and dearly enjoyed her little pet Miss Kitty.
Daisy will be lovingly remembered by children, Dorothy Royles, Little Harbour; Joan Rushton (Paul), Oxford; Allen (Maude), Westville; Glenn (Marie), Broad Cove; Valerie, Brian, and Mary Gwen (Gary MacDonald), all of Alma; Bruce, West River Station; Ronald, Toronto; Clara (Jim Hamilton), Georgetown, Ont.; Heather MacDonald (Steven), Trenton; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John F. MacDonald; son Paul; grand-daughter Cathy MacDonald; grandson Ricky Royles; and sister Alma Cherneshenko.
Daisy irested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday f.Her funeral service was held 2 o’clock Sunday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alma Fire Dept Ladies Aux. or the S.P.C.A. A reception will follow at Alma Fire Hall. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
