Obituary of James Fraser
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Lester Fraser, Millbrook. He passed away into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the age of 91.
Born in Millbrook, Pictou Co., on May 6, 1923, he was the son of the late James Daniel and Jessie Emma (MacLeod) Fraser.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret Florence (Fitzpatrick); daughters, Marlene Bomback (Dale), Alberta; Wanda Hefler (Chris), East Mountain; Leona Arnold (Doug), MacLellan’s Brook; Anita Atwater (Vincent), Gairloch; Isabel Graham (George), Durham; Marie Brow, Cape Breton; Patsy Sogor (Charles), Alberta; sons, Carl, Lansdowne; Fred (Rita), Millbrook; Lloyd, Gairloch; John (Sandra), New Brunswick; 21 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Tupper, Jean Henderson, Myrtle Wooldridge; brother Donald (Yvonne).
James was predeceased by sisters Vera MacCulloch and Evelyn Robinson; brothers, Allister, Lloyd, and Raymond; and infant brother Chester.
In his earlier years, he worked the family farm, several lumber camps, National Fish, Halifax, and the Claritone. He enjoyed family history and story telling and was a lover of nature, enjoying fishing, gardening, family get-togethers and picnics.
James rersted at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville for visiting Sunday. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Monday March 2, from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Gairloch Cemetery. Donations ion his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care or a charity of one’s choice.
