Obituary of Frances Mae MacKenzie
Frances Mae MacKenzie, age 94, of Westville, passed away peacefully at home, with her family at her side on March 2, 2015.
Born in New Glasgow, March 13, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Alice and Owen Joudrie.
Francis is survived by her daughter Beverly Connell, Westville; son, Dennis (Linda), Cape Sable Island; brother Gerald (Vonnie), Bible Hill; grandchildren, Troy, Darrell and Tracy; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon; sisters, Cora and Rose; brothers, Carl and Bruce; grandsons, Michael and Timmy Connell; and son-in-law Ralph Connell.
Frances was manager of the Sally Shop in New Glasgow for many years, retiring when the store closed. She enjoyed curling and volunteering at the Westville Curling Club - “making many a pot of homemade soup”. She spent many happy hours baking and crocheting. Frances enjoyed many years playing 45's with her card party friends. She loved her pets, having enjoyed the company of many cats and dogs throughout her life. Her two cats Babe and Tigger were her constant companions in her later years.
Frances wished to be cremated and at her request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The interment will be at a later date. The family would like to thank her care givers Jeannie Snell and Kathy Polley for their exceptional care; also a special thanks to Dr. John G. Forbes. Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the local S.P.C.A.
