Obituary of Marie Power
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lyn Marie Power of Westville on March 14, 2015 at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Stellarton on March 15, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Beryl (Perkins) Lorimer.
Marie will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sara (Stephen) Richard and the apple of her eye, granddaughter Lauren Richard. She is also survived by her twin sister, Lee (Barry) Dickson of Prospect Bay; brothers: Keith (June Urquhart) Lorimer, Stewiacke, John (Susan) Lorimer, Stellarton, and David Lorimer, Seafoam; her mother-in-law Mildred Power, Westville; brother-in-law John Power, Halifax; special nieces & nephews Michelle (Dave) Johnston and Lisa Dickson (Doug Corkum), Ashley and Michael Power; great nieces, Rylee, Sophie and Quinn Johnston all of Prospect Bay, as well as many very close friends.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by husband, Gary Power in 1993, brother-in-law Michael Power and father-in-law William “Wickie” Power.
Marie was a long-time employee of Sobeys Head Office. After her retirement she spent countless hours volunteering for various organizations. She was an active member of the Kinettes Club of New Glasgow and St. Paul United Church, Westville.
The family wants to express heartfelt appreciation to all those involved in Marie’s care, including the Pictou County V.O.N., Continuing Care, Dr. Forbes, Dr. Farrell and the staff of Aberdeen Palliative Care, with special thanks to her many dear friends for all their support during Marie’s illness.
Family received visitors at Eagles Funeral Home, Thursday. Her funeral service was held 11 o’clock Friday from St. Paul United Church, Westville with the Rev. Douglas Pilsworth officiating. Spring burial will be in the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to the Kinette Club, SPCA or Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
