Obituary of Elaine MacLean
Violet “Elaine” MacLean, 94, Tanner Hill Road, Pictou County, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her daughter, minister, and close friend at her side.
Born in Lovat, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marion (McCunn) Aldridge.
Elaine was a an active member of St. Lukes United Church, Salt Springs and a member of their Board of Stewards. She was also a member of Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge # 11; and for many years was involved in 4H. She loved to bake, especially for church suppers and was a baker at the Green Thumb for many years. She was an avid card player and enjoyed knitting socks and mittens for the neighbourhood, various charities and elementary schools. Throughout her whole life, she was always doing for others, helping in any way she could.
She is survived by daughter Helen McLeod, Braeshore; son John Douglas, Halifax; grandsons, Scott McLeod (Carol), Fredericton; Todd McLeod (Jen Sheppard)), Halifax; great grandchildren, Dylan, Corey, Mya and Christopher; sister-in law Rose Gordon, New Glasgow, and close friends Thelma MacDonald, Watervale, and Reta Heron, Durham.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, John MacLean; daughters, Mary MacLean and Joyce Chiasson; son -in-law, Ken McLeod; and sister and brother-in-law Mary and Alden Brooks.
Mrs. MacLean rersted at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday f. The Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge will conducted a service 6:30 Saturday at the Funeral Home. Her funeral service was held on Sunday April 26 at 2 o’clock from St. Luke’s United Church, Salt Springs with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice
