Obituary of Harold Mabey

Harold Clarke Mabey, 79, of New Glasgow formerly of Westville , passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he is the son of the late Albert and Pearl (Dunn) Mabey, Westville. Harold was a bus driver for the Pictou County Bus Lines, The Acadian Lines Bus Lines, and Irving Bus Lines, and later he worked for the Pictou County School Board. Harold was a member of the New Glasgow Fire Department where he was also a fire truck driver until his retirement. He enjoyed antique cars and especially enjoyed his pet dog Jake. He enjoyed going for drives, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife Bertha; step-daughters, Donna Barkhouse (Peter Rice), Pictou; Fay Carty (Gordon), Antigonish; special grand-daughter Jennifer Smith and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren who each had a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by infant daughter Shawna; son William; brother Aubrey; sister Margaret Campbell; infant brother William; and step-sons Ray and Terry Barkhouse. Cremation had taken place. Visitations were held on Thursday, October 29, at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service was held 2 o’clock Friday, October 30, from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Dr. Rev. Glen Matheson officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Maritime Oddfellows Home or the S.P.C.A.
