Obituary of Spiro Kougias
Spiro Kougias, 58, of Main Street, Westville, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his home.
Born in Greece, he was a son the late Stavros “Steve” and Panagiota “Pota” Kougias.
He came to Canada at the age of 15, first living in Stellarton and moving to Westville in 1974. He and his family opened the Highland Regent Restaurant, which later became the “Acropole”. They expanded the restaurants to New Glasgow and later in Pictou, where he was presently operating the Pictou “Acropole”. He was also a former member of the Kinsmen Club. Although a very quiet person, Spiro always had a smile with a pleasant personality.
He will be sadly missed by his brother Andre (Rhonda); nieces and nephews, Stephen, Janda, Drea, Tommy, Stavros, and Alcina ; great nieces and nephews, Maddy, Liam, Amelia, Gabriel, Aleko, Talia, Nicole, Christopher, and Sam; Uncles, George and Jim and aunt Alice; and several cousins.
Spiro rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville . His funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday, November 2, at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Burial was in the Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow.
