Obituary of Wallace Munro
William “Wallace” Munro, 94, of Alma, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, in Valley View Villa, Riverton.
Born in Limerock, he was a son of the late George and Mary Janet (Mackenzie) Munro.
Wallace was an employee of Proudfoots Farms for 31 years, retiring in 1975. He was a founding member and volunteer fireman with Alma Fire Dept. serving from 1964-1996.
He was a well know harness maker and his harnesses could be found all across the country, and still can be seen in exhibitions across Canada. He was involved with the Pictou County North Colchester Exhibition for many years, acting as Director in 1994. He was an avid bowler, receiving many trophies along the way. Wallace was a member of Green Hill-Alma United Church.
He will be dearly missed by his sister Eleanor, Valley View Villa; and cousins James and Helen MacLeod and Kevin and Margaret MacLeod, all of New Glasgow.
Wallace rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. His funeral service was held on Thursday, November 26, 2015 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating. Burial was in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Gairloch.
