Obituary of Carman Black

Carman Alexander Black, age 78, of Hardwood Hill, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Rockley, Cumberland County, on January 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Ira and Ruth (MacLeod) Black. He worked with Nova Construction for over 30 years. Carman was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother; a person his family could always count on. He worked very hard to provide a good home. He always had a project on the go in the garage and looked forward to the camping season. He was married for 54 years and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Bernice “Bonnie” (MacLean); daughters, Sherry Black, Salem; Gwen Black, Hardwood Hill; Kelly Carrigan (Nathan), Lyons Brook; grandchildren, Carman James “Jamie” Black (Krysten Salter), Westville, Evan Irving, Salem; Carman and Christian Carrigan, Lyons Brook; great-grandchildren, Riley James and Clara Black, Westville; sisters, Blanche Thorburn and Frances Taylor; brothers, Malcolm; Donnie; Lloyd (Sharon), Ronald (Ann), and Winston (Sharon). Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister Irene Taylor. Special thanks to the VON and Palliative Care team. Carman was very appreciative of the care they gave him. A Celebration of Life was held 2 o’clock Tuesday at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Donations in Carman's memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
