Obituary of Shirley Dort

DORT, Shirley Stella Pearl April 10, 1932 to February 16, 2016 It is with great sadness that Shirley’s family announces her passing on February 16, 2016. Shirley grew up in Montreal, Quebec and has lived in Westville for the past 36 years. An active member of St. Bees’ Church and a spirited participant in the Dancing Queens Line Dancing Troup, she loved playing cards in the many halls throughout Pictou County. She will be greatly missed by Russell, her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, four loving children, Cheryl (Al) of Mississauga, ON, Carol (Jack) of Westville, Terry (Kim) of Calabogie, ON and David (Kim) of Georgetown, ON and beloved grandchildren, Clint, Scott, Coady, Brad, Kerry, Heather, Christine, Cameron, Ryan, Zachary and Kyle. Shirley is also survived by her brother Arthur of Montreal, Quebec and sisters-in-law Marion and Gloria of New Glasgow and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brother Gordon (Vera), sister Ruth (Nick), brothers-in-law Vernon, Havelock, Thomas and sister-in-law Johannah. A funeral service was held at St. Bees, Anglican Church, Westville on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at 2 p.m. followed by refreshments in the Church Hall In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Palliative Care Unit Endowment of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home.
