Obituary of Ralph Young

Patrick “Ralph” Young, 71 of Westville, formerly of North Sydney, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Garnier) Young. As a boy, Ralph grew up in North Sydney. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1962-1968 and later worked for the Canadian Weather Service in northern New Brunswick. Ralph was a member of the Canadian Ice Patrol and went on to serve as a Fisheries Officer with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, eventually being stationed in Pictou until his retirement in 1998. Ralph will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Mary “Anne” (Hadley); daughter Carla Fraser, White Hill; son Joseph (Jennifer), Enfield; and was “Papa Ralph” to his four grandchildren, Laura & Ryan Fraser and Anna & Audrey Young. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Michael Young (Cavell); Nita Gillis (Ron); Dennis Young (Linda); Iris Young all of North Sydney; Blaise Young (Cathy), Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Ralph is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Thursday, June 9th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. His funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday, June 10th at the Church of The Holy Name, Westville.. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Kinsmen Club of New Glasgow, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28.
