Obituary of Jim Bourque

James Maurice "Big Jim", 73 of Westville, Nova Scotia passed away on Friday August 26, 2016 in the Aberdeen hospital, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia with his family by his side. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Fred and Emma (Vigneault) Bourque. Jim was instrumental in the development of the Westville arena in the early seventies. He spent many years working in the mining field in Ontario and the Northwest Territories before retiring back home to Nova Scotia in 1996. He was a sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed watching & coaching his grandsons baseball teams. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. Jim will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 54 years, Belle; loving children Lynn (Roy), Tammy (Amelie), Michael (Michelle), Fezanne (Ayron); grandchildren Christopher, Raine, Keinon, Hanna, Kane, Brooke and Sydney; brothers and sisters, Johnny (Marie), Theresa (Kevin), Jeanie (Edison), sister in law Donna and numerous nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Jim was predeceased by son Andrew, sisters Patsy and Junie; brothers Joe, Fred, Tommy, Bernie and infant brother Michael. Visitation for Jim was held at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville on Monday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. His funeral service was held at 1pm Tuesday at the Holy Name Church, Westville with Father Charlie Cameron officiating. Burial was Wednesday in the Holy Name Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Jumpstart foundation or Pictou Dialysis Unit. A special thank you to Dr. George, the ICU unit nurses of the Aberdeen hospital and all the staff over the past 16 years and the Pictou Dialysis Unit for their extraordinary care.
