Obituary of Jim Baird

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of James “Jim” Baird, age 74, of Silly Acres Lane, Mill Brook, on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late James and Jean (Blackmore) Baird. Jim began his working career in Montreal and later Boston. He moved to Nova Scotia in retirement where he enjoyed working on his tractors around the property. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Mill Brook Community Club. He was active in community organizations and events and was a supporter of L.O.R.D.A., where he and his wife would take her students every year. Jim will be dearly missed by his wife Debi (DeMings); sister Jeanette Echenburg; chosen children, Jennifer Perry (Andrew), Halifax; Darryl Rutledge (Justine), Ont.; and Jackie Rutledge (Allen Young), Mill Brook; grand-daughter Hailey Young; close friend Gord Hankin; mother-in-law Esther DeMings, Valley View Villa, father-in-law Vernon DeMings (who passed away on Sunday, November 27); and brother-in-law Greg DeMings (Cathy), Mt. Thom. There will be no visiting or funeral service by request. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 3, from 2-4 p.m. at his residence, 31 Silly Acres Lane, Mill Brook.
