Obituary of Robert MacKenzie
Robert “Bob” Bruce MacKenzie, age 54 , of Westville formerly of West River Station passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Halifax, Oct., 25, 1962, he was the son of the late Bertram Roy and Hillechien (Buiter) MacKenzie, and moved to West River Station as a child.
Robert was a loving husband, who enjoyed playing his guitar, writing music, computers, loved anything Christmas, loved his family and pet dog Lacey. He was a skilled photographer and had an outgoing personality and was well liked by those that met and worked with him. In his earlier years Robert earned his Stationary Engineer’s certificate; had worked for Jack Fraser’s, Highland Sq. Mall, and a variety of call centres throughout the last few years. He enjoyed communicating with his family and many friends on Face Book, including family in the Netherlands.
He is survived by wife Barb (Poirer), Barb’s children, Edward and Jason Fraser, chosen daughter Christine Smith; grandson Marcus; brother Gerald MacKenzie (Cindy); sister Carol MacKenzie (Rudy Pelletier); sister-in-law Cathy MacKenzie, chosen sister and brother Allan and Henny Cresine, many nieces and nephews, and extended family in the Netherlands.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and brother Don.
Visitations were held on Friday, December 2, at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service was held on Saturday, December 3, from Eagles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care or a charity of one’s choice.
