Obituary of Shirley Joseph

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loving wife and mother, Shirley (Fifield) Joseph, of Truro, at the age of 78, on January 15, 2017. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Sydney on February 8, 1938 to the late Edwin and Maude (Howell) Fifield. Shirley moved to Truro with her husband and children in 1967. Those who knew her loved her for her kind heart and generous spirit and many thought of her as their mother. She loved flowers and watching the birds at their feeders. Her greatest joy in life was her family and seeing happiness in those around her. She will be deeply missed by her husband James “Buddy” of 58 years; her children Cindy Martinello (Glen), Bathurst, NB; Linda Baird (Peter) , Green Hill; Darrell (Laura), Dartmouth; and Michelle Joseph (Steven Canfield), Middle Sackville. Shirley is also survived by her loving grandchildren Novella, Megan, Melissa, April, Jennifer, Jeffery, and Nicole; as well as siblings Mildred MacDonald, Art, Edwin (Betty), June Williams (Jimmy), and Dr. Leonard Fifield; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her parents; sister Dorothy; brother-in-law Donald MacDonald; sisters-in-law Bernice and Carolyn and nephew Joshua. Visitations were held Wednesday . at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her memorial service was held Thursday, January 19, at 1 o’clock from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Father John Mathews officiating. Flowers were welcome, those wishing to make a memorial donations may do so to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada
