Obituary of John Watters

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John “Jack” Garfield Watters 86, from Westville, Friday, January 28,2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Jack was born in Westville and was the son of the late John and Hazel (Henderson) Watters. Jack was a Tinsmith by trade having worked at Crockett Brothers, Glasgow Metals, and Moore and Chase. In 1974 he started working for the Michelin Tire Plant until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his children, grand children and great grand children. He enjoyed being the assistant Cook at the 1st Westville Police Venturers NCO camps and was told he was volunteering at any Beaver events as well. After retiring he enjoyed the many trips with Gennoe’s Bakery delivering bread, trips to Newfoundland with his son and playing golf with his daughter. For the past several months he resided in Glen Haven Manor and always looked forward to his Sunday drives with his son, Shaun. He even traveled to Mississippi to visit his daughter, who helped talk him into going to Florida. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Anne (Chennell) , brothers, Kenny and Carl, sister Jean. He will be sadly missed by daughters; Jo-Anne (Vernon) Pittman, Westville; Deborah Ingram, Mississippi; Bonita (Len) VanVeen, Westville; sons John “Ted” (Rosalee), New Glasgow; Shane (Amber), New Glasgow; and Shaun, Westville; grandchildren; Wally; Jason(Tasha); Tanya (Bill); Vanessa (Ray); Jamie (Carrie); Brian; Kristen (Cory); Mychaela; Tristen; Rene; Aden; Jamie ; Jayden and Devry; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Janet (Watters)Fraser. The family received visitors on Tuesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held 2 pm on Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with Rev. Pilsworth presiding. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma at a later date. Jack’s children wish to thank all the VON care workers, and the staff at Glen Haven Manor ( Crystal Watters) for the exceptional care and support their father received during his stay. Special thanks to the staff on the 5th floor, the ICU, and Palliative Care of the Aberdeen Hospital. Family flowers only please.
