It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Gladys Elizabeth Fleury nee Kennedy on June 11, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital with daughter Nancy and son -in- law Preston at her side while she listened to tunes on her mp3. Born in Westville, Mary was a daughter of the late Bill and Amelia (Bourque) Kennedy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Herb Fleury Sr. and little buddies Piper and Scooter. Mom worked as a telephone operator in Pictou County. Later in life, she moved to British Columbia where she and her husband worked in property management for 20 years. Following Herb’s passing, she returned to Nova Scotia. Mom possessed the gift of hospitality and giving. She was very generous with sharing her spirit with anyone she encountered. She made friends very easily and was the happiest when her home was filled with family, friends, music, and good food. Mom loved to paint especially with her good friend Danny Munro. She spent countless hours crocheting gifts for others and enjoyed her Friday morning sewing classes with Shelley Tye and the Ladies. Her favourite passion was reading cookbooks. She was a talented baker and loved to cook for others. Mom was a long time member of the Church of the Holy Name CWL. Mom’s compassion and care for others made her a great friend to many people. We want to express our thanks and gratitude to: Dr. Jota, Paula and the staff of the Westville Medical Clinic; Aberdeen Hospital Emergency Department and Dr. Nadour, Maggie, Dianne and staff of the Intensive Care Unit; Rhonda Mason and the wonderful staff and residents of the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou – she greatly enjoyed her visits with you; VON and Continuing Care staff for your care and compassion and a special thank you to Joann MacMillan.
