Obituary of Donald Yorke
Donald Claire Yorke, age 89 , Lime Rock, Pictou County, passed away on Sunday September 10, 2017 in Glen Haven Manor with his family by his side.
Donald was a son of the late Angus and Ethel (Bardon) Yorke.
Starting in the lumbering business at a young age, Donald became a well known pulp and lumber contractor operating his own Mill. He also worked in the blue berry industry as a blueberry producer.
A loving and devoted father and grand father, Donald will be dearly missed daughters, Vicki Tomozer, Brae Shore; Cheryl Campbell (Francis), Lorne; Debi Yorke, Dartmouth; Anne Cameron (Louie), Lime Rock; Dawn Fraser (Kim), Lorne; Shelly Yorke, Riverton; sons, Michael (Gloria), Lorne; Barry and Tony, Alberta; Jeremy (Cassandra), Michigan; daughters-in-law Faye Hayter, Linda Yorke, Sally Yorke and Harriett Yorke-Baudoux; twenty-five grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving companion Peggy Hawboldt; sisters, Myra MacLean (Art); Greta Young (Allister); brother, Bardon (Adele) and sister in law, Laura-Jean Yorke.
He was predeceased by his wife Verna (Miller); daughter Denise; sons, Brian and Darrell; grandsons Donnie and Cory ; and great grandchild Natasha Cameron/Landry; son-in-law Mike Tomozer; sisters, Merle MacArthur, Alta Macrae and Eileen Dunn; brothers, Harry and Jimmy Yorke.
Donald rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Tuesday, September 12. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Wednesday, September 13 from St. Luke’s United Church, Salt Springs with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Burial was in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Association of Canada.
