Obituary of Edith Avery
Catherine “Edith” Avery, age 81 of Munroe Avenue, New Glasgow, formerly of Westville, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side.
Born in New Glasgow, on March 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Margaret “Peggy” (MacNaughton) Johnstone, of Westville.
Edith loved to travel, especially her trips to Tennessee and Florida. She enjoyed her stay at Cranberry Campground, where she met many people and developed many friendships.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years Harvey; sons, Herbert, at home; William Harvey “Sam” (Barb), Hopewell; 2 grandchildren, Carolee and Sam; sisters, Eleanor Darroch,, Doreen Johnstone, and Isabel Higgins, all of Halifax and Patsy Dee (Gordon), Green Hill; brother-in-law Donald Avery, New Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers William Edward Johnstone in the Korean Conflict and James Johnstone; brothers-in-law, Earl Darroch and Herbert Higgins; sisters-in-law Pearl Vachel (Garfield ) and Jean Avery; as well as nephew Scott Dee.

Dr. Rivera and Dr. Kwasnik; and niece Karleen MacLaren.
Her family received visitors on Friday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service was held Saturday November 11 at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment was in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Society or the V.O.N.
