He then went on to work for CNR Police where he stayed until his retirement. During these years he worked in many parts of the province, as well as Newfoundland and New Brunswick. Upon retirement, Digger and his wife, Doreen, moved to Amherst. He spent his time golfing, relaxing at the family cottage and spending time with his beloved family. Surviving are daughters Lori Metzler (Todd), Dartmouth and Sharon Gates, Truro; grandaughter Kim Tanner (Kathleen), Bedford; sisters June Thompson, Trixie Keough and special sister-in-laws Shirley MacEwan and Marg Chittick; brothers Nelson, Elwood and Mike (Judy).
