Obituary of Eileen Forrest
Shirley Eileen Forrest, 67, of Lansdowne, formerly of Westville, passed away Friday, February 6, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Westville she was the daughter of Dorothy (Rankin) Crawford, Westville , and the late Harry Crawford.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church, Westville. Over the years, she had been employed as a seamstress at Stanfield’s, Truro; Wear Well Garments, Stellarton, and Reid’s Atlantic, New Glasgow. Throughout her life Eileen enjoyed baking (especially with her grandchildren), knitting (particularly thick winter socks and mitts that everyone appreciated receiving), quilting, reading, darts, cribbage, curling, going to the beach, fishing and imparting information and wisdom to her children that always began with, “You can’t get through the day without knowing…”.She was the best mother in the world who cared deeply for her family and friends.
She is survived besides her mother, by her husband of over 47 years Fred; son, Jim (Kim) Linacy; daughter Shelly Forrest-Dalton (Tim Dalton), Westville; son Fred (Margie) Oxford; grandchildren Ashley, Holly, Matthew, Morgan, Sean, Daniel and TJ; great-grandchild Scarlett; brothers Ken, Westville; Jim, Sylvester; Jackie (Yvonne), Westville; sister Carolyn (Bertie) Boudreau, Arichat; mother-in-law Hazel Forrest, Truro.
A memorial service will be held at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Major Jeanette Crews officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
