Obituary of Allister Lee Fraser

Allister Fraser, age 67 , of Westville, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the Q.E. II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.

Born in New Glasgow on April 24, 1950 , he was a son of the late Simon and Julia (Cyr) Fraser, Westville.

Allister had worked at Hawker Siddely for several years and later was a supervisor with the Public Works Dept. for the Towns of Westville and New Glasgow. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Blue Jays and Habs fan. Allister had a dry wit and was known for joking with his family and friends. Most of all Allister’s greatest enjoyment was children and was affectionately known as "Papa Al" to his grandchildren and "Bubba" to his nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter Robin Fraser, Westville; sons, Robert, Westville, and Ryan (Alma), Herring Cove; stepsons Chris Chamberlain (Anna), Mississauga and Keith Chamberlain (Stephanie), Port Williams; grandchildren, Kelsey, Ethan, Noah, Alexander, Sophie, Sydney, Cadee, Gabriel, Luci, Katherine, and Victoria; his wife Donna, Port Williams. He is also survived by his sister Mary, Westville; brothers, Joe, Durham; Tom (Anne), Sylvester; Peter (Vikki), Caribou; his former wife Rose; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Rose and nephew Joseph.

Allister is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the Church of the Holy Name with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A.;  P.O.
