Obituary of Gordon Walter Cyr
William Joseph "Gordon" Cyr, age 79, passed away on April 13, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Loving son of Joe and Sadie (Kennedy) Cyr, he was born in New Glasgow and raised in Westville.
Gordon moved to Toronto for work and met the love of his life Linda. Nova Scotia was always home to Gordon, he and Linda eventually made it their home together. Gordon was a jack of all trades, always on the move, a self proclaimed Gypsy. Gordon always had stories to tell to his many visitors. He loved fishing and hunting with his nephews. His three daughters were his angels, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. They all had a special spot in their Papa’s heart.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife Linda (LaPage); daughters Patricia Paddon (Jason), New Glasgow; Sarah Cyr (Nelson Cameron), Mt. Thom; Theresa MacDonald(Jason), Blue Mountain; special daughter Marlo Cooper (Nik), Calgary; grandchildren, Matthew, Justin (Skylar), Dylan (Katelyn), Joseph, Kristin, Joshua, Olivia, Mackenzie, Jack, Gracie, Ainslie, and Emerson; great grandchildren, Blake, Lily, and Dakota; brother Gibby (Sheryl); sister Margaret Horne; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by sisters Betty MacKinnon and Evangeline Cyr; special nephews Greg and Gerard; great nephew Jamie and four nieces in infancy.
Gordon rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the M.S. Society.
