Obituary of George Langille

George William Langille, 87, of Westville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family at his side.

The eldest son of the late William "Bill" and Mary Elizabeth (O'Brien) Langille, George came into this world on August 14, 1930.

George was a coal miner all of his working life, first at the Drummond Colliery, Westville; McBaine Mine, Thorburn and finally at the Allan Shaft, Stellarton, above ground. George liked to tinker and fix up his truck, hang out at the local garages and enjoyed his family and their special gatherings. Georges' strong determination allowed him to carry on and overcome his many challenges in life and being able to remain in his home. A very quiet man, he did not have a harsh word for anyone.

George and his late wife, Jeanette, welcomed nine children into this world; six sons, George Jr. (Betty), Springhill; Henry (Debbie), Michael, Carl and John, all of Westville and David, New Glasgow; and three daughters, Margie (Bill Bowman), New Glasgow; Lorraine Worth (James), Little Harbour Rd.; Catherine, New Glasgow. Grandchildren, Diane Clark (Paul), Springhill; Jannette Brown (Jason), Stellarton; Nelson Worth (Laura), Trenton; Julie Worth, Little Harbour Rd. Great-grandchildren; Nicholas Langille, Braden Clark, Carter Worth, Alex Brown and Ada Worth, who Papa George referred to as Nadine. Great great grandson, Damen Johnson.

He is also survived by sister, Clare Malloy (Dale), Westville; brothers, Francis (Dorothy), St. John and Gordon (Bette Anne), New Glasgow; as well as many nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Jeanette "Nettie"; brothers, Garfield and Carl. Sisters, Catherine and Beverly Campbell (Anthony).

George is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. His funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. If so desired, memorial donations in George's name may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
