Obituary of Kempt MacDonald
George Kempton "Kempt" MacDonald, age 87, Drummond Road, Westville, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Edward and Sadie (English) MacDonald.
Kempt was a veteran of the WWII. ans a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35, Westville. He worked on the CNR and later as a poster of signs and billboards with the E.L. Ruddy Company. Kempt was also a caretaker of Stellarton Town Hall and First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton for many years. He enjoyed mechanics and had a passion for fishing.
Kempt is survived by his wife Kathleen (Oldford); son George (Carol), Westville; two grandchildren, Brian, Westville and Valerie, Halifax; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Devon, and Madison. He is also survived by sister Sadie Sample, Truro and brother Eddie, St. Catharines, Ont.
He was predeceased by sister Mae Oliver; a brother Alex, and infant brother Stewart.
Visitations will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35 Westville will conduct a service at 6:30 Monday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Tuesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
